Joining one of our classes will be a great experience and something that you can feel completely at ease about.
Whatever your reason for wanting to learn, you can be sure that you will benefit from the many advantages of Karate practice, be it weight loss, increased self confidence, self defense, learning a martial art form, or to overcome the negative impacts of bullying and other social and work related stresses.

What To Expect During Your First Class
- You will be greeted by the class teacher who will answer any questions or concerns
- The class will welcome you, Students will be helpful and courteous.
- Some gentle warm up routines, followed by a short relaxation and meditation.
- one to one tuition from the class teacher, introducing theory, and basic technique practice
- warm down routines, and mindful meditation
- Informal discussion with your Karate teacher, to re cap and address any questions.
What to wear & Bring
- Loose Clothing. Trousers or long shorts and a comfortable & appropriate sports style training shirt.
- Training will be bare foot. This is perfectly normal for martial arts practice. The floor will be safe.
- Water or other refreshing drinks. We don’t encourage sports drinks or fizzy Sodas!
- Be fresh and clean before practice.
- Make sure your finger and toe nails are short
- Remove jewelry and watches etc.
- Don’t come to training having consumed alcohol or illegal substances.
- There will be no eating or chewing in the Dojo (training Hall)
- Take off your shoes and socks before entering the Dojo. Leave your shoes tidily outside the Dojo next to the other students.
- Finally, don’t feel awkward! It’s a bit of a cultural difference when you come to practice, you’re not expected to know the etiquette and rules, relax and enjoy!
